Ultra Electronics, TCS Awarded Contract for Ultra ORION

March 28, 2016 - Montreal, Canada— Ultra Electronics, TCS announced today that it received an order for its ORION two-channel multi-mission radio from General Dynamics Mission Systems for the Improved Mobile Subscriber Equipment (IMSE) tactical communications system for the Republic of China (ROC) Army, Taiwan.

The ORION two-channel software-defined radio provides multiple-input, multiple-output (MIMO) waveforms to support at-the-halt, at-the-quick-halt and on-the-move missions. It operates in high-capacity point-to-point, point-to-multipoint or mesh, while providing smart device access for rapid command post deployment. The ORION versatility makes it the perfect fit for backbone, edge and lower echelon solutions.

“The Ultra ORION family extends its global footprint with this order from Asia-Pacific, which is an important milestone for our two-channel multiband radio. TCS continues to provide innovative and highly differentiated solutions to international military forces”, said Iwan Jemczyk, President of Ultra Electronics TCS.

The contract, as a result of a competitive tender, was awarded by the U.S. Army Communications Electronics Command (CECOM) as a U.S. Army Security Assistance Foreign Military Sale (FMS) to the government of Taiwan for the ROC Army. The contract will be funded entirely by Taiwan.
